The Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation on Sunday launched an online loan instalment deposit system for customers.
One can now be able to complete the deposit using sonali e-seba payment gateway of Sonali Bank Limited through debit and credit cards or mobile wallets.
The online service system was launched at a programme held at the Hotel Purbani International in the capital, Dhaka.
Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal virtually inaugurated the system.
Instalments for BHBFC’s loans, prices of saleable forms and fees can now be paid online from anywhere instantly, said officials of the state-owned specialised non-bank financial institution.
Kamal said that the online loan instalment system was obviously a great initiative which would make the process of loan repayment of the customers easier.
The digital banking system would also reduce hassles the customers face, he said.
Kamal said that the government would raise the authorised and paid-up capitals of BHBFC to Tk 1,000 crore and Tk 500 crore respectively.
BHBFC managing director Md Afzal Karim said that the money in the customer’s own account in Sonali Bank could also be transferred to the loan instantly through the system.
When any deposit or transfer is made, depositors would instantly be confirmed about the transaction as well as the latest balance by auto-generated voucher and SMS, he said.
Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Finance Division’s senior secretary Abdur Rauf Talukder, Financial Institutions Division secretary Sheikh Mohammad Saleem Ullah, Sonali Bank chairman Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui and BHBFC chairman Md Salim Uddin also spoke at the event.
