Kaus Miah declared best taxpayer again

This time the country’s best taxpayer Kaus Miah. He paid the highest taxes in the 2020-21 tax year. In recognition of this, like the previous few years, this year also he will be given a tax card in the business category. He is the owner of Hakimpuri Jarda manufacturing company. At present, he lives in Aga Nawab Deuri Lane in the capital.

Kaus Miah’s hometown is in Chandpur district. This trader has other businesses including shipping besides Jarda. He has been on the list of top 10 taxpayers several times before.

This time 141 individuals, organizations and institutions are getting tax cards as the best taxpayer including him. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has gazetted the list of tax card holders.

At the individual level, there are five special categories of tax card holders – senior citizens, gazetted war-wounded freedom fighters, the disabled, women and youth.

The sources of income or profession are 13 categories – businessmen, salaried, doctors, journalists, lawyers, engineers, architects, accountants, new taxpayers, players, actors-actresses, artists (singers) and others.

Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi and late chairman of Transcom Group Latifur Rahman have been named the best taxpayers in the individual senior citizen category. Besides, Khwaja Taj Mahal, Engineer Khandaker Badrul Hasan and Dr. Mostafizur Rahman.

Haji Mohammad in the business category. Apart from Kawshar, the list of best taxpayers includes NASA Group Chairman Nurul Islam Majumder, Palmal Group Managing Director Nafis Sikder, Chittagong businessman Shawkat Ali Chowdhury and Old Dhaka’s Anwar Hossain.
